This server is a dedicated mining pool for various cryptocurrencies (Litecoin, Feathercoin, Mooncoin, DASH, etc - like Bitcoin), directly connected to the AMS-IX! A mining pool is the pooling of resources by miners, who share their processing power over a network, to split the reward equally, according to the amount of work they contributed to solving a block. A "share" is awarded to members of the mining pool who present a valid proof-of-work that their miner solved. Mining in pools began when the difficulty for mining increased to the point where it could take years for slower miners to generate a block. The solution to this problem was for miners to pool their resources so they could generate blocks more quickly and therefore receive a portion of the block reward on a consistent basis, rather than randomly once every few years.
So, how do I start mining a cryptocurrency and is it difficult? Actually no, it's very easy. All you need is a PC and a fast graphics card in order to get started. Typically you'll find 2 major brands of GPU's (Graphics Processing Units) on the market: AMD or Nvidia - both will work! So, in short, if your PC has a decent GPU, you're good to go. All you need now is the right mining software and a mining pool to connect to. And for that you've come to the right place! You don't even need to set up an account with us! The next step is to select a cryptocurrency below (we recommend you start with mining Feathercoin if you've never mined before).
Shortened as FTC, the Feathercoin is a secure and unique cryptocurrency that uses the proof of work system to facilitate transactions. It was created and launched in 2013 by Peter Bushnell, making it one of the oldest digital currencies. Feathercoin is an upgrade of both the Bitcoin and the Litecoin with most of its features borrowing heavily from the Litecoin. However, it has numerous features in comparison to other cryptocurrencies, making it more reliable. Using the NeoScrypt algorithm, any user can generate Feathercoins through the process of mining. This coin is ASIC resistant, allowing users to mine via conventional GPUs. Despite the fact that it uses the proof of work system, which was regarded as time-consuming, FTC transactions are predominantly fast, scaleable and secure. A block transaction takes an average of 60 seconds. Mining using the NeoScrypt is extremely rewarding, in comparison to other digital currencies. Miners get high rewards of 80 coins per block.
Downloading and installing the Feathercoin official wallet
First you'll have to download the official Feathercoin wallet software. Make sure you ONLY download this from the official Feathercoin website here: https://www.feathercoin.com/. Install the version for the operating system you have and let it sync the blockchain. Note that this can take hours, if not days! Patience is a virtue - and this especially applies to mining!
When the installation is finished and the blockchain is in sync, you can find your Feathercoin address under 'Receiving adresses' in the menu of your Feathercoin wallet (your feathercoin address is like your e-mail address or your bank account number: You can send coins to a person by sending coins to one of their addresses - and yes, it is possible to create multiple adresses you own in your own wallet). It will look something like this: '6q2hdv3dpfX3SWCXSThecq78DcUWLcqqHX' (do not use this specific address, unless you want to donate 100% of your mining revenue to us). Make sure to write down YOUR own unique Feathercoin address. We will use your unique feathercoin address (we'll call it 'YOUR_FTC_PAYOUT_ADDRESS') in the next steps.
Downloading and installing the mining software
Now we need to determine which brand your video card (GPU) is. If it's Nvidia or AMD we are in luck: Download the mining software suitable for you (it is important you determine which video card you have as the software we're going to use is very hardware dependent: e.g. the Nvidia miner won't work on an AMD GPU and vice versa):
Start mining Feathercoins!
Now go to the directory where you downloaded the miner software to, unzip it and start the mining software (Windows users, you'll need to use the command prompt: Tap the Search button on the taskbar, type cmd in the search box and choose Command Prompt on the top. If you're on Linux, you probably already know what to do ;-)):
NOTE: Replace the "YOUR_FTC_PAYOUT_ADDRESS" with the feathercoin address we mentioned in Step 1.
As we mentioned, 'Patience is a virtue - and this especially applies to mining!': Leave the mining software running for a couple of days (without switching off your computer) and you will see the mining rewards arriving in your Feathercoin wallet. Note that this can take a few days, depending on the performance of your GPU, the network difficulty and luck!
So, why do your mining here, on a P2Pool based node, versus mining in a traditional pool (one where you have to create an account and maintain a separate pool wallet on the pool website)? Why do experienced miners use P2Pool?
Experienced users will know what to do in order to mine Dash (Dash mining is currently only recommended with a FPGA/ASIC). All you need to know is the following information in order to start mining:
Our litecoin pool address: stratum+tcp://mine.demon.nl:7903
Password: IGNORED (just use x)
Experienced users will know what to do in order to mine Litecoins (Litecoin mining is currently only recommended with a FPGA/ASIC). All you need to know is the following information in order to start mining:
Our litecoin pool address: stratum+tcp://mine.demon.nl:9327
Password: IGNORED (just use x)
Experienced users will know what to do in order to mine Mooncoins (Mooncoin mining is currently only recommended with a FPGA/ASIC). All you need to know is the following information in order to start mining:
Our mooncoin pool address: stratum+tcp://mine.demon.nl:9664
Password: IGNORED (just use x)
